GERRINGONG'S Michael Cronin and Rod Wishart are better known for being rugby league internationals than cricketers, but both played the summer game as kids with South Coast civic and sporting legend Athol Noble, who died last week aged 85. Wishart said: "I knew Athol all my life ... I cast my memory back to playing cricket for Gerringong fourths with Athol. He was well into his 50s then and I was 12 or 13." Said Cronin: "When I was young I'd go up to his shop and get a milkshake and then I'm 15 or 16 and I'm playing cricket with him. He was a great supporter of mine. When I was copping a bit of flack he stuck by me."
